There are some days that I am just in a funk. There are times it’s because I feel super overwhelmed and sometimes I think it might be because I haven’t had any “me” time and I am on the verge of exploding. I’ve realized, most days don’t need a huge reset, just need a small one. Not a full routine overhaul. Not a tackle the house cleaning from top to bottom. Not a dramatic lifestyle change. Just a small things that can shift the day slightly in the right direction.
Here are a few of my current favorite things that make life feel about 10% better.
And honestly, sometimes 10% is all you need.
1. Starbucks (Yes, I Know)
I know. Groundbreaking.
But there’s just something about getting in the car, driving through the line, and holding a coffee that someone else made. It feels like a small break from the routine.
Is it a little basic? Sure.
But it works, and I’ve learned not to overthink the little things that make a day better.
2. A Trip to Target
Also basic. I’m aware.
But a quiet walk through Target can reset my mood faster than most things. Maybe it’s the lighting. Maybe it’s the perfectly arranged shelves. Maybe it’s the possibility that I might leave with something I didn’t know I needed five minutes ago.
Sometimes I buy something useful. Sometimes I just wander the aisles.
Either way, it works.
3. A Diet Coke
I won’t pretend this is a grand wellness habit.
But a fountain Diet Coke (even better with pellet ice) in the middle of the afternoon has solved more bad moods than I’d like to admit.
There’s something about that first sip that just…Mmm! I don’t even have the words.
4. A Clean Kitchen and Tidy Living Room
We live in the age of open floor plans, where you can stand in one spot and see most of your house at once.
Because of that, if the kitchen and living room are a mess, it feels like everything is a mess.
But if those two spaces are clean? Instant satisfaction.
The guest room might be completely out of control. Closets might be questionable. But if the kitchen is reset and the living room looks put together, life feels manageable again.
5. Loud Music
Sometimes the fix is as simple as turning the music up.
It doesn’t even matter what kind. Some days it’s 2000s pop. Some days it’s completely different. Honestly, most days it’s Taylor Swift. But turning the music up in the kitchen while making dinner or cleaning up can shift the entire mood of the house.
It’s a very small thing with a surprisingly big impact.
Life doesn’t always need a full reset.
Sometimes it just needs one or two small things that make the day feel a little lighter, a little calmer, or a little more fun.
Ten percent better still counts.
And honestly, I’ll take it.
What’s one small thing that makes your day 10% better?
XO, Sabrina
